Become a Himmah Ambassador

For fifteen years, Himmah has responded to crisis with compassion and dignity — delivering food, hot meals, clothing, and advice to thousands of local families. But charity alone cannot outpace inequality. Poverty is shaped by systems and power. If we are serious about justice in Nottingham, we must go upstream — organising people and organising money. Because power is built, and justice is built on organised communities with the resources to act.

The Himmah Ambassador Programme is how we build that power. Ambassadors represent Himmah in their communities, raise awareness, organise conversations, campaign for change and mobilise funds — including legacy giving. They are not simply volunteers; they are community builders turning generosity into lasting impact.

During Ramadan, ambassadors focus on fundraising, harnessing the spirit of zakat and sadaqah to support families now while strengthening Himmah for the future. If you believe in dignity and justice for Nottingham, join us — and help organise the change our city needs.

As an ambassador, you’ll aim to raise at least £1,000 over the year by setting up a JustGiving page and taking on one or more fundraising activities. Some people go well beyond that. What matters most is commitment and consistency.

We’ll support you with ideas, messaging, graphics, and encouragement throughout the year.

How it works

1

Set up your Justgiving Page

Go to: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/himmahambassadors

Click “Start Fundraising” and choose “Just fundraising” so you can take on different challenges throughout the year. Set your target (minimum £1,000) and add a short message about why you’re supporting Himmah.

Once your page is live, send us the link and we’ll support you along the way.

2

plan your challenges

Choose one or several activities across the year. You can spread them out to keep momentum going. Some ambassadors plan one big challenge. Others do something every few months.

3

share & ask

Send your page to friends, family, colleagues, and on social media. Be clear about your goal and why it matters to you. Most people give because they’re asked directly.

Last year, Robina became a Himmah Ambassador and raised £3,500 by hosting community dinners and music events. She turned the things she already enjoyed into meaningful support for Himmah’s work. Fundraising does not have to be extreme. It can be creative, community-based, and built around your own networks.
